Terry W. Hendrix, Sr.

SAVANNAH – Terry Walter Hendrix, Sr., age 86, died Thursday, October 11, 2007, at his home, after a long illness, under the care of Hospice Savannah, Inc. The Liberty County native was a longtime resident of Savannah. A veteran of the United States Army during World War II, he served with Merrill’s Marauders, and was awarded the Bronze Star. After the War he continued his military service in the Georgia Army National Guard, retiring as 1st Sgt. of HHB 1-118th Field Artillery Brigade. Mr. Hendrix was a member of Whitefield United Methodist Church and a life member of the Chatham Artillery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie.
Surviving are a son, Terry W. “Bubba” Hendrix, Jr. of Savannah; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Kenneth Huffman of Savannah; two sisters, Eva Ham and Johnnie Chaplin, both of Savannah; four grandchildren, Tim and Mike Huffman and Amanda and Justin Hendrix; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 pm on Sunday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am on Monday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, with Dr. Grover Bell and Rev. Archie Seabrook officiating.
Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice Savannah, Inc., P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.
